Jadwiga Kaliszewska



Jadwiga Kaliszewska's life was associated with Poznań. Born in Warsaw (1936) and educated in Cracow (with Professor Eugenia Umińska), she was one the most highly recognised Polish violin educators, Professor at the Academy of Music, Head of Bowed Instrument Chair. Member of the jury at several editions of the Wieniawski Competitions (violin and violin-making), she was Chairwoman of the Board of Henryk Wieniawski Musical Society in Poznań. Juror at numerous violin competitions, in 2005 she initiated National Eugenia Umińska Violin Player Competition in Poznań. She died in Poznań in 2012.
