Andrzej Murawski 


Andrzej Murawski is one of the first graduates of State Primary School of Music in Poznań. He continued his musical education first at the Secondary School of Music in Prof. Jan Rakowski’s class of viola, and later with Assistant Prof. Włodzimierz Tomaszewski at the State Higher School of Music. He completed his education in 1967 in Prof. Stefan Kamasa’s class, and went on to work at the Academy of Music in Poznań. Holder of a scholarship from the French government, in 1971-72 he studied at the Paris Conservatory with Prof. Andre Focheaux. In 1977, he was awarded artistic scholarship in Rome, where he studied at the Accademia di Santa Cecilia. Between 1966 and 1992, he was a member of early music chamber ensemble Collegium Musicorum Posnaniensium based at the Museum of Musical Instruments in Poznań. In 1980-2005, as leader of the viola section, he collaborated with Amadeus Polish Radio’s Chamber Orchestra led by Agnieszka Duczmal. Holder of Minster of Arts and Culture’s Second Class Individual Prize, in 1984, he was awarded Gold Cross of Merit. Several-time member of the jury at Jan Rakowski National Viola Competition in Poznań; expert of the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage.
